Coal Mine Explosion Claims Lives in China

(MENAFN) At least 82 individuals lost their lives following a devastating gas explosion at a coal mine located in northern China’s Shanxi province, according to a news agency on Saturday.

The explosion erupted on Friday evening at the Liushenyu coal mine in Qinyuan county, where 247 miners were working underground when the catastrophe unfolded.

Rescue and emergency crews are still stationed at the location as operations persist to locate the missing workers and evaluate the overall scale of the disaster.

Authorities have additionally initiated an inquiry into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
