US Senate gives unanimous green light to release Epstein files

(MENAFN) The US Senate has unanimously approved a measure compelling the Department of Justice to make all unclassified documents related to Jeffrey Epstein publicly available, according to reports.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer quickly secured unanimous consent to advance the Epstein Files Transparency Act shortly after it arrived from the House, which had passed it in a 427–1 vote earlier the same day. "The Senate has now passed the Epstein bill as soon as it comes over from the House," Schumer said on the Senate floor.

The legislation will now go to President Donald Trump for his signature.

Ahead of the Senate’s approval, Trump downplayed any concerns about the chamber’s timing, saying his only priority is that Republicans stay focused on what he described as a series of recent political successes. "I don’t care when the Senate passes the House Bill, whether tonight, or at some other time in the near future. I just don’t want Republicans to take their eyes off all of the Victories that we’ve had," he wrote on Truth Social.

It remains unclear when Trump will sign the measure.

Epstein died in a New York City detention facility in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges. He had previously been convicted in 2008 for procuring a minor for prostitution. His surviving victims continue to call for accountability and support in pursuing justice against those they accuse of abuse.
