Militancy Strikes Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

(MENAFN) At least six Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in militant assaults in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, local law enforcement officials reported on Tuesday.

The incidents took place in the Manato area of Kurram district late Monday afternoon, a police officer stationed at the district emergency control room informed a news agency over the phone.

“We have received reports that six soldiers were martyred and two others injured, while a dozen militants were also killed,” he stated, adding that the military has sealed off the area and police have not yet managed to access the site.

Security forces also neutralized a local militant leader identified as Usman Khyberi.
As of now, the military has not released any official statement concerning the recent attack targeting its personnel near the Afghan border.

Militant incidents have been a recurring issue in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Pakistan experiencing a notable increase in such attacks over recent years.
