Trump Considers “Strong Options” Against Iran
In recent days, Trump has issued a series of statements declaring that the US is “locked and loaded” to intervene in support of Iranians seeking “freedom.”
He warned that Washington would “start shooting” if Iranian authorities opened fire on protesters.
On Sunday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused the US of meddling in the unrest, while Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated the claim on Monday, describing the situation as a “terrorist war” against the nation.
Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump told reporters: “We’re looking at it very seriously. The military is looking at it, and we’re looking at some very strong options. We’ll make a determination.”
Earlier that day, a media outlet reported that Trump is scheduled to meet with his aides on Tuesday to review possible measures.
These reportedly include strengthening anti-government messaging online, deploying “secretive cyber weapons” against Iranian military and civilian infrastructure, imposing additional sanctions, and even considering military strikes.
Trump also claimed that Iranian officials had contacted the White House to “negotiate,” noting that a “meeting is being set up,” though he suggested the US might act before talks occur.
Additionally, he announced plans to consult with Elon Musk about sending Starlink satellite internet terminals into Iran to help protesters bypass the government’s recent internet shutdown.
