Erdogan holds phone call with Syrian leader

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa that the complete elimination of terrorism from Syrian territory is essential for the stability of both Syria and the wider region, according to reports.

“Türkiye’s support to Syria in many areas, particularly in counterterrorism, will continue to increase,” Erdogan said during the Sunday phone call, as stated by Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.

The leaders also discussed bilateral relations and recent developments in Syria, with Erdogan highlighting that Türkiye places significant importance on Syria’s territorial integrity, unity, cohesion, stability, and security, according to reports.
