Three Syrians Youths Die from YPG/SDF Landmines in Eastern Aleppo
According to reports from local media, the explosions occurred inside civilian homes near the Tishrin Dam. The mines were reportedly placed by the SDF in the area.
The previous day, at least five civilians died while attempting to return to their homes in villages near the Tishrin and Qara Qozak dams, after encountering landmines planted by the SDF, the Aleppo Media Directorate said.
For safety reasons, the directorate urged residents “not to enter villages located along contact lines until they are fully secured by internal security forces and engineering teams,” which have been working for several days to clear mines and prepare the area for the return of civilians and the resumption of state services.
The directorate also called on the SDF to respect agreements signed with the Syrian government, which facilitate the entry of state institutions and internal security forces “to ensure security, stability and the safety of civilians.”
On January 20, the Syrian Defense Ministry declared a four-day ceasefire across all army operational sectors following “mutual understandings” between the presidency and the SDF. The truce was later extended by 15 days.
The ceasefire followed a Syrian Army operation that reclaimed significant areas in eastern and northeastern Syria after repeated SDF violations of prior agreements and their failure to implement the terms established nearly a year ago.
