Iran Says US “in Principle” Acceptance of 10‑Point Peace Proposal

(MENAFN) Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi indicated Tehran may pause military operations under specific conditions, saying any halt would depend on attacks against Iran ceasing.

“If attacks against Iran are halted, our powerful armed forces will cease their defensive operations,” Araghchi said in a post on the US social media company X's platform on Wednesday, describing the move as part of mediation efforts and ongoing diplomatic contacts toward de-escalation.

He added that, for a two-week period, coordinated arrangements with Iran’s armed forces could allow safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, subject to technical constraints.

The remarks follow Iran’s submission of a 10-point proposal to end the conflict. According to state media, the plan calls for guarantees of non-aggression against Iran; continued Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz; recognition of Tehran’s right to uranium enrichment; the lifting of US primary and secondary sanctions; termination of UN Security Council and International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors resolutions against Iran; compensation payments; withdrawal of US combat forces from the region; and a comprehensive cessation of hostilities.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said in a statement early Wednesday that the proposal would form the basis for negotiations, though it did not disclose full details.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said Washington would suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks, describing Tehran’s proposal as a “workable basis” for negotiations.
