Iran’s Energy Ministry Is Ready for Crisis, Reassures Public

(MENAFN) Iran’s Energy Ministry stated Tuesday that it is ready for worst-case scenarios and urged citizens to remain calm amid concerns over electricity supply. The ministry emphasized that the country’s power grid is decentralized and warned the public not to give credence to rumors of prolonged outages.

Mohammad Reza Aref also reassured citizens via the social media platform X, saying that national security and infrastructure stability are being managed with “precise calculations.” He noted that the government has prepared for all potential scenarios and stressed that no threat exceeds Iran’s level of preparedness, urging the public to remain calm.

The remarks come as US President Donald Trump set a deadline of 8 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday (0000 GMT Wednesday), threatening to destroy every bridge and power plant in Iran if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz and reach a deal.

Reports indicate that tensions have intensified since February 28, when joint US and Israeli operations against Iran killed more than 1,400 people. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US forces, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
