Iran Stresses Grip on Strait of Hormuz

(MENAFN) Ali Akbar Velayati, a top adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, declared that the Strait of Hormuz is “firmly in our hands,” underscoring Tehran’s determination to defend its national priorities after recent negotiations in Pakistan with the United States.

Velayati stated via US social media platform X that Iran’s foreign policy stance rests on a singular foundation: safeguarding the nation.

“Today the Strait of Hormuz is firmly in our hands,” he said.

He further noted that Iran’s diplomatic initiatives continue to center on preserving national sovereignty and protecting its strategic concerns.

These comments followed the conclusion of the most recent round of discussions between Iranian and US representatives in Islamabad, which ended without a finalized agreement.

The talks, facilitated by Pakistan, wrapped up after several sessions of dialogue and proposal exchanges but did not achieve a significant breakthrough.

While speaking in Islamabad, US Vice President JD Vance indicated that Washington and Tehran were unable to secure an accord despite prolonged negotiations.
