Russian Forest Patrol Plane Crash in Siberia Kills Two People

(MENAFN) A light-engine aircraft operating in southwestern Siberia crashed while conducting forest fire monitoring operations, leaving two people dead, according to statements released Wednesday by Russian authorities.

As stated by reports, the Aeroprakt-22 aircraft went down near the village of Koshkarevo in the Azovsky Nemetsky National District of Russia’s Omsk region.

Officials said the aircraft crashed into a field, though no fire broke out following the impact.

According to the statement, investigators have launched a criminal inquiry into the incident as authorities work to determine what caused the crash.

The Russian Investigative Committee said the reason behind the accident has not yet been disclosed.
