The European Union confirmed that while certain institutions were removed from its sanctions list, broader restrictive measures targeting individuals and entities associated with the former government will remain in place following its latest annual review. The sanctions regime has been extended through June 2027.
The EU’s policy adjustment comes amid Syria’s ongoing political transition following the end of the long rule of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024 and the formation of a transitional administration in early 2025.
