Kremlin Criticizes Zelenskyy Remarks on Reported June Strike Plans

(MENAFN) Russia has dismissed statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggesting that Kyiv has prepared plans for strikes against Russia in June, saying the remarks run counter to efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement, according to reports.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, speaking at a briefing in Beijing, said Zelenskyy himself represents “the main obstacle” to ending the conflict.

He criticized what he described as repeated militant rhetoric, stating: “Again and again, we hear militant statements. These are not the kind of statements that would help create an atmosphere favorable to moving toward peace negotiations.”

Peskov added: “This once again underscores and proves who is the main obstacle on the path toward a peaceful settlement. It is Zelenskyy and his regime,” according to reports.

He also noted that Russia’s military will respond to perceived threats from Ukraine, while insisting that Moscow continues to favor a negotiated resolution.

“Moscow remains open to a peaceful path of settlement. It is the preferred option for us,” he said.
